Job Summary

McCord Engineering, Inc. is looking for a Field Services Technician at our Bertram, Texas office. A technically minded individual who is self-motivated with a desire to learn electrical distribution design would excel at this position.   Examples of Duties:

• Assist in creating electric overhead and underground distribution designs using AutoCAD software for new power line installations.
• Coordinate with landowners/developers/engineers/project managers/clients/contractors to create deliverable packages to fit the client’s needs.
• Demonstrate a working knowledge of electric utility industry codes and standards.
• Willing to learn and adapt in a fast-paced work environment while maintaining a high standard for data quality, accuracy, and production.
• Collect field data by utilizing surveying equipment, such as GNSS/RTK systems, GIS, measuring tools, and assorted field tools.
• Demonstrate dependability whether in the office or in the field, subject to rough terrain and outdoor weather conditions.
• Perform other duties and assignments as needed.

  QUALIFICATIONS

• Dependable, trustworthy, and excellent communication skills.
• General knowledge of MS Office Suite.
• Valid Driver’s License is required.
• Must be willing to travel occasionally as business needs arise.

  EXPERIENCE Experience, education, or training in electrical engineering/design, surveying, lineman work, construction trades, GIS, and/or AutoCAD drafting/design, is a plus.    EDUCATION High School Diploma    JOB LOCATION

Job Summary

Immediate opening in College Station Texas.  Surveying, staking, and designing electrical distribution power lines (typically 12 kV to 25 kV lines).  Experience with NESC, GIS mapping, 811 locates, RTK survey equipment, framing units, construction practices, AutoCAD drafting, field notes, and staking sheets is desired, but not required. • Perform field work to gather the inventory of existing distribution power lines, then apply that information in an office setting to determine routing and the ultimate design of the distribution power lines.
• Prepare drawings and documentation for the construction of distribution line projects.
• Prepare concrete pole drilling guides.
• Prepare construction staking sheets.
• Prepare plan and profile drawings for design and permits.

  QUALIFICATIONS

• Valid Driver’s License
• Be able to use Microsoft Office and have basic computer skills
• Be able to travel 70% of the time in the field
• Self-motivated individual with good communication skills

  EXPERIENCE Staking experience is preferred, but not required.     EDUCATION

• Create electric distribution electric layouts in ACAD for new residential and commercial development projects.
• Coordinate with developers/engineers/project managers/clients to create deliverable packages to fit the clients’ needs.
• Collaborate with team members to improve processes and workflow.
• Demonstrate a working knowledge of industry codes and standards.

  QUALIFICATIONS

• Dependable, trustworthy, and have excellent communication skills.
• Willing to learn and adapt in a fast-paced work environment while maintaining a high standard for data quality and accuracy. The job entails 100% computer designing and data modeling.
• Valid Driver’s License.

  EXPERIENCE

• Drafting (AutoCAD) experience preferred.
