McCord Engineering, Inc. is looking for a Field Services Technician at our Bertram, Texas office. A technically minded individual who is self-motivated with a desire to learn electrical distribution design would excel at this position.   Examples of Duties:

• Assist in creating electric overhead and underground distribution designs using AutoCAD software for new power line installations.
• Coordinate with landowners/developers/engineers/project managers/clients/contractors to create deliverable packages to fit the client’s needs.
• Demonstrate a working knowledge of electric utility industry codes and standards.
• Willing to learn and adapt in a fast-paced work environment while maintaining a high standard for data quality, accuracy, and production.
• Collect field data by utilizing surveying equipment, such as GNSS/RTK systems, GIS, measuring tools, and assorted field tools.
• Demonstrate dependability whether in the office or in the field, subject to rough terrain and outdoor weather conditions.
• Perform other duties and assignments as needed.

  QUALIFICATIONS

• Dependable, trustworthy, and excellent communication skills.

Job Summary

Immediate opening in College Station Texas.  Surveying, staking, and designing electrical distribution power lines (typically 12 kV to 25 kV lines).  Experience with NESC, GIS mapping, 811 locates, RTK survey equipment, framing units, construction practices, AutoCAD drafting, field notes, and staking sheets is desired, but not required. (MEI) is looking for an electric distribution electrical engineer to join our firm.  The ideal candidate will have a professional engineering (PE) license, but an individual who can become a PE will be considered.  The position will be full-time, primarily involved with electric distribution engineering designs for municipal and electric cooperative clients all over Texas.  The candidate will be required to work in the MEI College Station office.  

• Able to design or provide detailed direction to technical staff in one or more of the following electric engineering areas: overhead distribution line designs, system planning, and system modeling.
• Provide interpretation of relevant codes, standards, regulations, and guidelines (including NESC).
• Project management on smaller projects, including direct client relationships.
• Coordinate tasks between departments within MEI, sub-consultants, vendors, and clients.

The position will be primarily involved with transmission engineering designs for our clients. Most projects involve working directly with our clients which includes municipal utilities, cooperatives, industrial and private entities.  The following are the tasks that the individual should be able to do at a minimum:   QUALIFICATIONS

• Provide design and detailed direction to technical staff in the following areas: transmission lines design, PLS CADD / PLS POLE, modeling, and AUTOCAD.
• Structure analysis and loading trees, developing design criteria and specifications for the line design and procurement of materials, and quality control reviews.
• Provide interpretation and make decisions in accordance with relevant US codes (NESC, RUS, ASCE), standards, Federal and State laws, regulations, policies, and guidelines.
• Principles and practices of electrical engineering as applied to the design and construction of an electrical transmission system.
